Travel without ID

I have booked a ticket (Sleeper Class) for someone from the counter who is 19 year old and is travelling to his native (from Chennai to Nagpur) on 29 Oct 2014. He does not have any ID with him and is travelling alone. I thought if you buy the ticket from the Railway counter you do not need any ID but in the ticket they have mentioned that the ticket is Valid with Original ID. What can be done. HOw can he travel?

Please help.

It is not essential to carry ID in this case but it should be carried just to prevent fraud cases.
